One of the unique strengths of Platinum Performance Lab is that it combines over sixty years of coaching experience with a new generation of coaches who grew up within the WRMS system and experienced its methods firsthand as athletes.
PPL is not simply a collection of coaches. It is a coaching team built around a common philosophy:
Swimmers learn fastest when they receive immediate feedback, precise technical instruction, and clear performance targets.
Every PPL coach understands that philosophy because they have lived it.
Mike Finch has spent more than six decades coaching swimmers in Canada and the United States.
Throughout his career he has coached athletes ranging from beginners learning their first strokes to swimmers competing at national and international levels.
Long before video feedback became common in swimming, Mike was using video technology daily to help athletes understand technique and race execution. Long before race-pace training became widely accepted, he was experimenting with methods designed to teach swimmers how to swim fast rather than simply survive training.
His years at the W. Ross Macdonald School became a proving ground for many of the ideas that now form the foundation of Platinum Performance Lab. Working with a small pool, limited resources, and athletes with unique challenges, he developed systems that emphasized learning, technical precision, and performance ownership.
Today, Mike's focus remains unchanged:

Cameron Kidd
Associate Coach
Cameron Kidd represents the next generation of high-performance technical coaching.
A WRMS graduate and one of the most accomplished swimmers to emerge from the program, Cameron understands both the athlete and coaching sides of elite performance.
Having grown up with constant video feedback, race-pace training, technical analysis, and performance accountability, Cameron brings a unique perspective to coaching. He understands what modern athletes need because he experienced it himself.
His ability to communicate technical concepts, identify stroke inefficiencies, and connect with athletes has already established him as one of the most promising young coaches in Canadian swimming.
At PPL, Cameron plays a major role in technical development, race execution training, pacing systems, and performance analysis.
Rebecca Terejko
Associate Coach
Rebecca Terejko is one of the most successful student-athletes ever to emerge from the WRMS program.
Her accomplishments extend far beyond swimming. Rebecca earned distinction as a Governor General's Medal recipient, recognizing extraordinary achievement in both academics and athletics.
As an athlete, Rebecca experienced firsthand the value of disciplined training, technical excellence, and personal accountability. As a coach, she brings those same qualities to every swimmer she works with.
Rebecca's strength lies in helping athletes understand that high performance is about more than physical ability. Success requires preparation, consistency, resilience, and attention to detail.
She serves as an outstanding role model for young swimmers pursuing excellence both in and out of the pool.
Emmett Stavnitzky
Associate Coach
Emmett Stavnitzky is another product of the WRMS system and represents the type of athlete PPL strives to develop.
Having grown up within an environment built around video feedback, technical coaching, and race-pace learning, Emmett possesses an exceptional eye for swimming mechanics and performance details.
One of Emmett's greatest strengths is observation.
He notices things.
Tiny technical details that other athletes miss. Small changes in body position. Timing errors. Stroke rhythm changes. Breakout patterns. Pacing decisions.
Those observations make him an extremely valuable coach and teacher.
Athletes quickly discover that Emmett sees almost everything that happens in the water.
His coaching style combines technical precision with an ability to communicate concepts clearly and effectively, making him particularly effective with developing swimmers.

A swimmer's club is their classroom.
The club coach is their teacher.
Great teachers are essential. They build foundations, create opportunities, organize learning environments, and guide large groups of students toward success.
Yet many parents understand that sometimes a student benefits from additional help.
When a student wants to accelerate learning, improve a specific skill, prepare for an important examination, or simply receive more individual attention, families often seek out a tutor.
Nobody views tutoring as a replacement for school.
Tutoring is a supplement that helps students learn faster.
PPL operates on exactly the same principle.
We are not replacing swim clubs.
We are not replacing club coaches.
In fact, we believe clubs are the foundation of swimming development.
Clubs build the training group (Class) PPL acts as a Tutoring Service for Swimmers
Through highly individualized coaching, advanced video feedback, pace-light training, technical analysis, and small-group instruction, we provide the kind of focused attention that is impossible to deliver consistently in a crowded training environment.
Many swimmers spend thousands of hours training.
Very few receive thousands of hours of actual coaching.
PPL was created to change that.

We identify learning gaps.
