Platinum Performance Lab (PPL)
Membership Priority Policy
Because Platinum Performance Lab is built around long-term athlete development and mentoring, booking priority is given to swimmers who are actively engaged in the program on an ongoing basis.
Our goal is not simply to provide isolated coaching sessions. We are seeking to build long-term coaching relationships that allow us to understand each swimmer's strengths, weaknesses, technical challenges, racing habits, and developmental goals over time.
Priority Order
Priority 1 — Active PPL Members
Swimmers who maintain active PPL Membership status and regularly participate in scheduled sessions receive first access to available booking times.
These swimmers form the core of our program and are given priority because continuous coaching allows for the greatest improvement and the highest quality mentoring.
Priority 2 — Returning PPL Swimmers
Swimmers who have participated consistently in the past and are seeking to continue their development with PPL receive next priority after active members.
Priority 3 — Wait List Members
Swimmers on the official PPL Wait List are offered openings as they become available. Wait List members may also be contacted to fill short-notice cancellations.
Priority 4 — New Swimmer Inquiries
New swimmers and families seeking their first PPL session are welcomed whenever space permits after existing members and wait list swimmers have been accommodated.
Why We Use This System
The most successful athletes we work with are those we see regularly.
When a swimmer returns every two to four weeks, we are able to:
- Track technical progress over time
- Review previous session goals
- Monitor race results and training adaptations
- Adjust pacing and race strategies
- Build individualized development plans
- Maintain continuity between sessions
This approach allows PPL to function as a true coaching and mentoring program rather than a series of disconnected lessons.
Emergency Replacement List
To ensure that sessions are rarely cancelled, PPL maintains an Emergency Replacement List of swimmers who have indicated they are available on short notice.
When a cancellation occurs, swimmers on this list may be contacted to fill the available session. Participation on the Emergency Replacement List does not guarantee a booking but does provide additional opportunities to access the program.
Our Commitment
We are committed to helping swimmers over months and years, not just individual sessions.
The families who commit to that process will always receive priority access to the Platinum Performance Lab.
Platinum Performance Lab Performance Pod System
How Our Performance Pods Work
The foundation of Platinum Performance Lab is the Performance Pod.
Each Performance Pod consists of two swimmers training together during a 90-minute session.
Over time, we have found that two-swimmer pods provide the ideal balance of individualized coaching, video feedback, race-pace training, and learning opportunities. Swimmers benefit not only from their own coaching but also from observing and learning from another athlete working through similar challenges.
The Priority Member
Each Performance Pod is built around a Priority Member.
The Priority Member is responsible for:
- Maintaining the pod's active status
- Receiving priority booking access
- Selecting future session dates during the priority booking period
- Coordinating with their Performance Pod partner
- Introducing and onboarding a second swimmer into the pod
This allows families to train with a swimmer they already know and are comfortable working alongside.
Choosing a Pod Partner
The Priority Member may invite:
- A teammate
- A training partner
- A sibling
- A friend from another club
- Any swimmer who is an appropriate fit for the session
In most cases, swimmers of similar age, ability, and commitment level make the strongest Performance Pods.
Our staff will always reserve the right to approve pod combinations to ensure that the pairing is appropriate and beneficial for both swimmers.
Stable Pods
One of the goals of the PPL system is to create stable, long-term training partnerships.
If a pod is working well, there is no reason to change it.
Many swimmers will remain with the same pod partner for months or even years.
Stable pods allow:
- Better coaching continuity
- More accurate goal setting
- Stronger accountability
- More effective race-pace training
- Better understanding of each swimmer's strengths and weaknesses
Changing Pod Partners
Sometimes circumstances change.
A swimmer may:
- Move away
- Change schedules
- Stop participating
- Develop different training needs
If either swimmer wishes to change partners, PPL can assist in finding a new pod arrangement.
The goal is to provide flexibility while maintaining continuity whenever possible.
Booking Priority
Priority Members receive first access to upcoming booking dates.
Once the Priority Member selects dates, they simply confirm those dates with their pod partner.
This system allows families to maintain control over their schedules while ensuring that active PPL swimmers receive the first opportunity to reserve available training times.
Building Long-Term Coaching Relationships
The Performance Pod model is designed to support long-term athlete development.
Rather than attending isolated clinics or occasional lessons, swimmers become part of a consistent coaching process built around regular feedback, individualized goal setting, race-specific training, and ongoing mentorship.
The result is a more personal coaching experience and a more effective pathway toward long-term improvement.
